Rihanna to Receive Fashion Icon Award 2014

Superstar Rihanna will be receiving a Fashion Icon Award at the 2014 CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Fashion Awards ceremony. The star is being honored “For her contributions to the fashion industry as well as her philanthropic partnership with the M.A.C. AIDS Fund’s Viva Glam campaign.” Not to mention her presence at the Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, Lanvin, Comme des Garçons, Chanel and Miu Miu… at Paris Fashion Week this year. The ceremony will be held on June 2 in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. Slip into Some Surrealist Art

Fashion brand Opening Ceremony run by Humberto Leon and Carol Lim has launched a capsule collection with surrealist artist René Magritte for a ready-to-wear and shoes collection. The collection is inspired by twelve of the artist’s emblematic paintings. The American concept store has worked with Manolo Blahnik, Birkenstock and Vans to realize this project. The collection will present twelve of the artist’s most famous paintings as collectors’ pieces available in May. Contrast: ‘Seen & Unseen’

A new generation of photographers will come together to showcase the ‘Seen and Unseen’ attractions of the UAE with a focus on Ajman at The Ajman Palace, under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Faisal Al Qassimi.
