Exploring the Evolution of Memory Through History

As part of Art in Vida Initiative, Vida Downtown Dubai has teamed up with renowned visual artist Owais Husain for the first installation of Art in Vida 2017, with his visually fascinating video installation entitled Empires of Memory. The interactive exhibition will be on display at the boutique hotel from March 10th until April 15th with its unveiling during Art Week, as the city is bursting with creative energy. In Empires of Memory, Owais Husain explores the themes of identity, displacement, and memory through mixed media using both video and stacked steel trunks. His exhibition explores the evolution of memory through history; how one can be used to shape, manipulate, or distort the other and how this dynamic is influenced by the hierarchies of culture through generations. Gucci Reveals Outdoor Mural in New York

Gucci, in partnership with Colossal Media, a leader in hand painted outdoor advertising,  take-over a large-scale mural in New York City for 2017. The 2,500 square foot wall is located in the heart of Soho on Lafayette Street between Prince St. and Spring St. The wall serves as a blank canvas and highlights the beauty and uniqueness of the almost forgotten art form of hand painted outdoor advertising.   The wall launches with artwork from San Francisco-Based illustrator Jayde Fish and continues throughout the year with a variety of other collaborations. Creative Director Alessandro Michele discovered Fish’s work on Instagram and several of her illustrations were featured in the Women’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection.
