1000 Vases: The Emotional Power of Many

1000 Vases is an exhibition that aims to redefine space and the presentation of art objects. The scenography, created by the Italian architect Roberto Baciocchi, shows us how the value of a work can be enriched by its proximity to another piece. 1000 Vases was recently on show in Dubai Design District (d3). The 1000 Vases exhibition redefines interior spaces and the very way an object is presented. Here the vase, a functional, everyday object, rises to the rank of fine-art design, thanks to the imagination of the artists. This medium is a perfect way to show the plurality of today’s artistic scene. Through unique art direction and with the support of d3, 1000 Vases brings together a versatile collection of vases from around world and makes exclusive designs accessible to buyers, design enthusiasts and the public. For this latest edition, the public was invited...

A new Italian brand of lighting and home designs, Nita, opens a permanent showroom during Milano Design Week 2019 with the inauguration of Omni, a multisensory exhibition-event inspired by interaction with nature. Inside an old spice warehouse in the up-and-coming Loreto district, the event is an immersive experience which investigates the intersection between man and nature through the furniture and lighting collections of Nita and the textile universe of Eskayel revisited in light of the four classical elements: earth, wind, fire and water. New York-based textile design studio Eskayel introduces the “Omaggio” collection, a collection inspired by a Tuscan-style garden in San Diego, owned by Founder Shanan Campanaro’s father. The design, originating from an original painting from Campanaro, will be transcribed into a combination of velvet fabric woven tapestries, rugs and large scale wall murals. The organic designs comment on a cultural nostalgia that explores...

AQUAZZURA x Racil Chalhoub: A Summer Romance Capsule Collection

AQUAZZURA reveals a special high summer capsule collection in collaboration with Lebanese designer Racil Chalhoub.  Inspired by the striking female attitude of the 90’s, an era they both grew up with, and their obsession with head to toe looks, the designers chose to tell their own story of a summer romance through clothes and shoes, a sort of feminine and modern Dolce Vita dressing for the Instagram era. The collaboration was conceived on one of many trips which Edgardo and Racil embark on every summer, bringing their worlds together to offer women a fresh take on a perfect summer wardrobe with pieces that can be dressed up or down, worn from beach to party with just the change of a shoe. “Racil is not only a great designer and very sophisticated woman, she is also a very close friend so working together was great fun....

Lebanese artist Ghazi Baker’s Suspension of Disbelief exhibition at Mark Hachem Gallery in Beirut focuses on how we as humans are able to suspend our disbelief at certain times and let our imaginations take over. The collection of around 20 paintings asks viewers to suspend their own beliefs for just a little while. The show starts on March 28. Growing up, Beirut-based Lebanese painter Ghazi Baker was amazed by what he saw in films, fascinated by the ability to pursue the viewer in believing a story line, from Superman to Star Wars and even romantic films. Later in life, this fascination turned into a philosophical pursuit, a journey of discovery and research to find what really makes the viewer accept the premise of a film. “We watch movies the same way older generations would read books, by shutting down our belief system and letting our...
