  Gucci Cruise Collection

Graphic chic. Sketched from essential lines. Sculpted by optical combinations. Ignited by striking flashes of gold. For Cruise 2012, a modern bon ton by Gucci. “I wanted to create a collection from a timeless aesthetic while re-examining the House's codes through a contemporary lens,” explains Creative Director Frida Giannini. “I set out to contaminate the styles seen in archival photographs from the Fifties and Sixties with a modern vision.”

Tactile sensations from unexpected material combinations. Overlapping pieces with sheer cuts and contrasting colors, synthesized in trompe l'oeil outfits. A mix and match inclination applied with a sophisticated approach towards prints. Colorful leopard. Macro cashmere. Animal flowers. Tapestry. A true imprint.

SILHOUETTE
Geometric, refined and avant-garde, vibrant with cult pieces. Pure nuances constantly interrupted by black and white. Tight skirts that hit below the knee and double-breasted, masculine cabans. Royal grape and amaranthus paired with pink and sand. Pleats carved in gold on miniskirts with small collarless jackets. Touches of neon citrus lime, tabasco red flame, and marigold with summer white. Tight ankle-length pants with darts and cuffs, with cuts and anatomical details from riding pants. Marine accents with macro web stripes across the knitwear and mini shorts. Dresses either soft and flowing or suddenly very fitted. With small playful leather bows on the belts.

MATERIALS
A matterful mélange that marries research and tradition, from high-tech options to more natural solutions. Starting with the faille in nylon/cotton, the resin mackintosh and the leno weave paired with lurex. To approach cotton-linen, wool cavallery or cotton and silk in the double georgette, the crêpe de chine or the cotton voile. Through to the reflections of gold, the season's fil rouge, for the outlining on the edges of the clothes, for thin belts and for boxy jackets in laminated nappa or gold python.

EVENING
The dandy hints of a diva. A masculine touch in a new tuxedo with tapered pants or a white dinner jacket worn with a golden reflector top. Small jewel accents and a low waist to softly elongate the lines. Femme grafique in long column dresses in white, black or gold. From opaque satin to double georgettes or sequins all over gowns.

ACCESSORIES
A distinct graphic streak. Strappy sandals, high-heeled pumps with sharp points or classic horsebit moccasins. Maxi shopper bags in animal prints and square lady bags to carry on the shoulder or by hand. Small belts to emphasize the waistline on tight jackets, vaguely reminiscent of the Fifties. A sophisticated touch with plexi and PVC flowers paired in contrasting colors to close the neckline of a shirt.
