The Chanel genius seems to be all over the news these days… Karl Lagerfeld is truely one busy man. He has an extensive list of talents – one which now includes architecture and design with a new 270-room hotel in Macau, China, expected to open 2017.
Lagerfeld said: “I am very happy and proud to work on such a great project. An entire hotel designed by me. It’s the first time for me; I think the idea is great.”
The property will also have a a multi-purpose theater for events, Michelin-starred restaurants and a themed retail mall. The resort will also have up to 700 gaming tables and 1,200 slot machines.
Lagerfeld hinted the hotel would be every inch as sophisticated and luxurious as the goods Chanel is renowned for. ”You know, Gabrielle Chanel always said, ‘I only make dresses I would wear.’ And I make only rooms where I would like to sleep. It’s as simple as that.”
Lagerfeld previously experimented with hotel design on a smaller scale by putting his twist on suites at Paris’ exclusive Hotel de Crillon. He is also launching a flagship Karl Lagerfeld store in London soon and has created a British-themed capsule collection to coincide with the opening.
