After Marc by Marc Jacobs shuttered four years ago, Jacobs is reentering the contemporary market a new affordable label, named after his Instagram account @themarcjacobs.
The line consists of clothing, bags, shoes, jewelry, and accessories that stimulate individuality and personal style. Each piece from the collection has been given a special name that starts with THE: The Romantic Blouse, The Grunge Sweater, The Smock Dress, The Disco Skirt, The Panama Pant, etc.
Most of the items in the new collection such as The Grunge Sweater, The Shirt Dress, The Track Pant revisits the original sensibility (of the Marc by Marc Jacobs label which was shunted four years ago). Jacobs also collaborated with Peanuts to make a few pieces like the denim skirt, jacket, and pants.
‘I am very happy and proud to announce the launch of The Marc Jacobs!’ said the designer in an Instagram post. Jacobs hired photographer Hugo Scott and Russian stylist Lotta Volkova for the brand’s new lookbook. She previously worked with Demna Gvasalia on Vetements and Balenciaga.
With prices ranging between $95 for a tee to $895 for a velveteen coat and $1600 for a cashmere hoodie, the items from the new The Marc Jacobs collection are now available through the Marc Jacobs webstore.
