Model Cara Delevingne Goes Topless in Balmain’s New Campaign

Balmain’s spring 2019 campaign sees model Cara Delevingne and creative director Olivier Rousteing paying tribute to Janet Jackson.

A recreation of 1993 photograph of Janet Jackson and her ex-boyfriend Rene Elizondo, shot by photographer Patrick Demarchelier, Delevingne stands topless in front of Rousteing while his hands cover her breasts.

Rousteing describes the campaign as the reunion of two skin tones: black and white. He wanted “something pure and transparent.”

Another image of the campaign shows a nude Delevingne sitting on a cube, in front of a large “B” which is a reimagined version of Pierre Balmain’s initial logo.

Speaking about Delevingne, who is the face of Balmain, Rousteing said it marks an important moment for their friendship. He explained that he wants Delevingne’s modeling skills to do the talking in the campaign as her gaze is “so strong and magnetic,” it becomes “an item of clothing in itself.
