If you know a watch collector and looking for something nice to get him/her this Christmas, here’s an great idea: My Time from Christie’s.
The true collector collects timepieces with his heart, just as much as his mind. A true collector buys to keep and does not care what the ‘market says’, he only cares to own what he desires. It is in this spirit that this collection – one of the most important watch collections in the world – presented in this book was assembled. Each watch has a reason why it is in this collection.
Each watch has a personal link to the collector, Mr. Sandro Fratini. The 650 watches featured in this book represent a fraction of the entire collection, to which Sandro Fratini quietly and passionately dedicated huge amounts of his time and energy in collecting the watches that spoke to his vision.
MY TIME, a 688-page large format Ultimate Reference book has been produced with the greatest care which is an appropriate tribute to its exceptional photographic content: it will reveal to the public a watch collection never seen before publicly. The book, also a project driven by passion, was created by Christie’s with and for Sandro Fratini to underline his passion for the finest watchmaking from the technical aesthetics of the movement to the beauty of the dial and case design.
This book, with parallel Italian and English texts will be distributed worldwide by FAM | Publishing in the prestigious series “Collection” and is co-edited with Christie’s. It reveals examples of celebrated vintage Patek Phlippe and Rolex wristwatches, many of them unique pieces unknown to the collecting community.
In addition, a fine selection of a fine selection of mid-century Audemars Piguet, Vacheron & Constantin, and Cartier watches are presented lavishly within this massive book. Only a privileged few have seen these watches before and now the public has the opportunity, to study, admire, and compare many of the most important watches ever made.
