W Barcelona Adds a ‘Wow’ Effect to its Suites

W Barcelona, the iconic flagship of W Hotels Worldwide and part of Marriott International celebrates the beginning of the new season by taking the W experience to another level, actually to a Wow level.

Since its opening in 2009, W Barcelona has been one of the most distinctive landmarks along the Barcelona coast, making a bold impression on both locals and international travelers alike by regularly reinventing itself defying the limits of its concept of luxury rebel.

This year, W Barcelona goes a step further and takes it to the extreme to ensure an elevated and unforgettable season with the transformation of its top suites – EXTREME WOW and WOW.

The award-winning in-house design team at W Hotels have partnered with London-based design studio Bowler James Brindley to reimagine the premium suites, inspired by the changing atmosphere of the day and Barcelona’s remarkable influences in culture and design, taking inspiration from the colourful elements that are intrinsic to the cosmopolitan city of Barcelona. The nightlife, music, food, fashion, culture and streetscape are all at the epicentre of our design.

W Barcelona’s new EXTREME WOW Suite celebrates the night time atmosphere of Barcelona, the colour palette deriving from the dark blues, bronzes, warm golds and deep greys of the city at night.

Occupying one of the top floors of W Barcelona, the suite opens to a large space designed as an area for relaxing as well as entertaining. The space boasts an oversized bar, finished in large broken ceramic tiles, and contains both a football table and a dining area, as well as a round lounge seating area in the relaxation zone, inspired by the geometry of Gaudí’s system of proportions based on 12 sections. The design ensures every guest seated has a spectacular view.

Between this area and the bedroom, the architectural ‘junction box’ is occupied by a DJ booth and a whole wall containing a full height speaker installation inspired by the city’s vibrant music scene.

A circular bed sits stage centre in the bedroom, echoing the concepts of the relaxation and entertaining area. The space also enjoys a huge curving sofa, a tribute to Gaudi ́s iconic Serpentine Bench.

Outside, the 59-square-metre terrace with Jacuzzi, is the perfect spot where to enjoy the stunning views of Barcelona and the Mediterranean Sea.

The EXTREME WOW Suite brings contemporary design and fabulous views to a whole new level, and is the ultimate place to take in the scene or make your own.

The two WOW Suites reflect the magical atmosphere created by the sun setting at the beach, reflected by the sunset palette of the room. Those suites share the same layout and architectural principles as the EXTREME WOW.

The WOW Suites open to a circular seating area in front of full height windows that offer sublime views of the Mediterranean Sea. The space is decorated with a bronze-etched mirror, a feature pendant light above and a custom rug on timber floorboards. The seating area also offers a bar finished with large broken tiles and contains a little football table and a dining area.

The bedroom, separated by a timber wall, also has a centrally located rotating circular bed, allowing the guests to enjoy either a movie looking one direction or an incredible sunset looking the other.

In the incredible 31-square-metre outside terrace, guests can enjoy impressive views of Barcelona and as it transitions from day to night.
